PS Food Mart proudly supports several local food pantries and elementary school backpack programs in the communities where we operate. We are also very proud to be supporters of charitable organizations that help to better our communities.
Every community where PS Food Mart operates is our "Hometown", and we are committed to helping fight local hunger everywhere we operate. In 2010, we created the PS Food Mart Charities fund through the Homer Area Community Foundation. 2010 was the first year of our annual "Fight Hunger Give Hope" campaign, which is held in March of each year. Through this campaign, PS Food Mart Charities has been able to provide financial support to the South Central MI Food Bank, Toledo Northwest Ohio Food Bank, SeaGate Food Bank of Toledo and numerous local food pantries and school weekend backpack programs in communities wherever PS Food Mart operates. The "Fight Hunger Give Hope" campaign has raised over $600,000 to date. We want our customers and community members to know that every dollar of the money we raise during our campaign goes directly to help fight local hunger. We believe that no one should have to worry about where their next meal will come from, which is why we are committed to the "Fight Hunger Give Hope" campaign.
In addition to the "Fight Hunger Give Hope" campaign, we also hold an annual Pop Tart campaign in October. Through this campaign and the support of our generous customers, we have been able to donate more than 550,000 Pop Tarts to local Food Pantries and School Backpack programs.
Customers of Folk Oil, the local CITGO marketer and PS Food Mart Charities, raised just over $80,000 at the beginning of March in the “Fight Hunger Give Hope” campaign.
In the last 8 years, getting food packs and groceries to those that need them locally, is one of the things PS Food Mart Charities has been doing in the communities they serve, including this effort through the Food Bank of South Central Michigan, Seagate Food Bank of Toledo, as well as food pantries and school weekend backpack programs.
From March 5th through the 18th, PS Food Mart customers that generously participated came into the stores and made donations of $1 and $5 that went to the effort of feeding people locally. Enthusiastic employees also added to the fun and fundraising with their ideas for each store location. With this money, over a half-million meals can be provided.
Folk Oil and PS Food Mart Stores are very proud of their customers and employees that helped to raise $80,056 in this effort.
Our 9th annual campaign will take place March 5 - 18. We will be supporting not only the Food Bank of South Central Michigan and SeaGate Food Bank in Toledo, but weekend backpack programs in the school districts of Homer, Concord, Western, Coldwater, Jackson, Hillsdale, Reading, Union City, Marshall, Albion, Lakeview, Harper Creek, Whitmore Lake, Williamston, Swanton, Garfield and Beverly in Toledo and food pantry locations as well in Michigan and Ohio. Last year, over $88,000 was raised with the help of our loyal customers. We are looking forward to a successful campaign in 2018.
